I arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark at approximently 9:38am, Danish time, greeted by my Mormor, Morfar (Grandma, Grandpa), and my Uncle John. It was a bright sunny day with brisk winds and all the notions of spring. During this time of the year, Denmark is exceptionally green, without the heat of the summer. As the days followed, I've been shown the way to the beach, pool, mall, train station, and of course my language school. About four days ago I had an interview with the people at the school called, Clavis sprog & kompetence located in Greve, Denmark, in order to see when I could begin. By the way, sprog & kompetence means language and competance in English. As it turns out, I found that I would start on Monday the 16th, attending the school Monay thru Wednesday for four weeks. I attend two and a half hours every day, with class from 12:00pm-2:30pm. There are also study opportunities from 9:00am-11:00am Monday thru Wednesday which I may also utilize as well. In addition to these hours, I am also required to study at home. I was placed in a class with varying degrees of Danish language education. Most of the students in my class are quite advanced and have been studying Danish for some time now. While this does pose a challege for me, it will also help me advance more quickly. I've recieved beginners materials of course including a learning book, assignment book, access to the Clavis online program, and of course a Danish to English dictionary. Outside of school, I have been exploring the country of Denmark, riding my bike and taking the train practiacally everywhere enjoying the Danish culture, and all Denmark has to offer. I look forward to becoming more advanced in Danish and hope to continue learning even after I return home.
